I spent a good part of my day watching and talking about garbage trucks. Matthan loves any type of truck so when I heard the garbage truck emptying out the apartment dumpsters this morning I called him over to our bedroom window so he could see it in action. He was mesmerized, glued to the window until the garbage truck was gone. At this point, he was very upset … “more gargac truck, MORE gargac truck, GARGAC truck PEEEEASE!” as he flung himself to the floor, crocodile tears streaming down his face. I tried to reason with his little 1 1/2 year old mind that the garbage truck was gone, his job complete. He would not have it. I decided to Google garbage trucks and at least show him some pictures online. I found something better though, video after video after video on YouTube about garbage trucks. People have actually sat outside their homes to video tape the garbage being collected, THEN have compiled videos together, not 30 second videos, but 8 minute long videos, with various types of garbage trucks featured – front loading, rear loading, side loading, slides with titles showing you what’s coming next and music! WOW! I didn’t realize garbage trucks were that interesting. I am thankful that someone out there had nothing better to do with their time than to put these videos together and post them on YouTube. It made my day so much easier, especially after nap time, when I thought we were done with garbage trucks, but instead Matthan made a beeline to the window to look for the truck again and when he didn’t see it kindly asked for “more gargac truck, TV? Pease?”

You are not alone…except in this case its jeeps! A friend of mine has a 3 year old who is obsessed with Jeeps….instead of watching cartoons on tv he begs to sit in front of You Tube with some Jeep clip on!!! They have it all!
There were some twins in preschool last year who didn’t come on Fridays. Instead, their grandparents took them to McDonalds for breakfast so they could watch the big garbage truck empty the dumpster!
